HOME SAFETY: FIRE

HOW TO AVOID

  • Periodically clean or replace the filter in the hood and check the exhaust ducts at least once a year.
  • Place the pan handles inward so they do not protrude.
  • Do not store flammable liquids in the kitchen.
  • Avoid cooking with wide sleeves
  • Avoid drafts in the kitchen, they could put out fires and allow a gas leak
  • Watch the liquids placed on the fire to boil as it may leak and turn off the flame. The gas will still rise.
  • Do not leave containers to fire when away from home, although the planned absence is very short.
  • Do not block the vents and clean the kitchen properly.
  • If the gas supply is interrupted while you are using it, close all taps until service is restored.
  • Use large ashtrays containing water. Do not forget burning cigarettes.
  • Never smoke in bed or lying on the couch.
  • Respect smoking bans.
  • Do not smoke while handling flammable liquids such as paints, varnishes, paints, etc..
  • Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.
  • Do not empty ashtrays into the trash can after verifying the absence of any bad butt off.
  • Install protective screens in the fireplace.
  • Do not leave lit the fireplace if you are absent.
  • Do not use gasoline or other flammable liquids to start the fire.
  • Unplug appliances that are not used.
  • Do not connect multiple appliances to the same power outlet, or if you do, never exceed the maximum power allowed by the mechanism.
  • Turn off the power by disconnecting the corresponding differential thermal or before handling the mains.
  • Never handle electrical appliances with wet soil.
  • Do not make interim arrangements, “bungling” in lamps or appliances if not a specialist.
  • Do not hesitate to call a technician to faulty wiring.
  • Before installing an appliance, read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
  • Unplug the electric griddle when, for any reason, leave board.
  • Get proper ventilation appliances (TV, Video, appliances Hif-fi …)
  • Do not cover electrical cords with rugs, blankets or other fuel elements and little heat sinks.
  • No electric lights cover fabrics or papers.
  • Do not place combustible items (clothing, paper …) on heat sources such as electric heaters, gas stoves, or appliances.
  • Do not use braziers as heating elements in the stretcher tables. Often cause serious fires.
  • Turn off the burner, or cylinder wall when not using the gas. At bedtime, check that all the keys are in the correct position. In prolonged absences, close all keys, including counter service in the case of the gas company (under current regulations).
  • Periodically check gas facilities (kitchen, heaters, stoves …)
  • Replace the rubber feed gas installations according to their expiration dates.
  • Do not use combustible gases in confined spaces without adequate ventilation.
  • For the detection of gas leaks in pipes, use soapy water.

Make an overhaul before bed, watching for has been closed and the gas supply if there are electrical appliances or poorly lit butts off. At bedtime close all doors.
